02:24 pm: movie meme part two...Final Answers
It's been a while since anyone has guessed, so I suppose it's time for another quote. I'm following [info]sistermagpie's example. The first set of quotes are the ones not guessed, and the second set are all a second quote from each of those movies.

First quotes that haven't been guessed:

3. When I say go, we go. But don't let Frank catch yeh. Go! Cars [info]shadowfax8and Noah

5. Go home. Find a wench, raise fat babies, live a good long life. Both lines were said by Oliver Platt's character, Porthos the Pirate in The Three Musketeers.

6. Look at these! Silk, pure silk! I'll bet her mother spun 'em! Calamity Jane [info]rosiethehobbit

8. They think you dress like that because you shaped like that! The King And I [info]evenstarnikki

9. Then I shall prepare something special. Perhaps I'll make you disappear. Both lines were said by Edward Norton's character, Eisenheim in The Illusionist.

10. From hell's heart, I stab at thee. For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee. Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan [info]shadowfax8

Second quotes from the same movies:

3. Oh, man, you get to work with Bessie! I'd give my left two lugnuts for somethin' like that! Cars [info]shadowfax8 and Noah

5. Little pimple... meet me behind the Luxembourg at 1 o'clock and bring a long wooden box.

6. [singing] At last my heart's an open door / And my secret love's no secret any more. Calamity Jane [info]rosiethehobbit

8. Pairs of male elephants to be released into the forests of America. There it is hoped that they will grow in number and the people can tame them and use them as beasts of burden. The King And I [info]evenstarnikki

9. I thought we might end this evening with a discussion of the soul. All of the greatest religions speak of the soul’s endurance before the end of life. So what then does it mean to die?

10. Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human.  Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan [info]shadowfax8

1. Pick 10-20 your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

1. Auntie Em, Uncle Henry, Toto! It's a twister! It's a twister! (Sorry, NOT Wizard of Oz  :P) Airplane! [info]sistermagpie

3. When I say go, we go. But don't let Frank catch yeh. Go! Cars [info]shadowfax8 and Noah
4. Well, I'm glad you've finally come to your senses. I was prepared to sue you. I don't know who I am, but I'm sure I have a lawyer. Overboard [info]frelga
5. Go home. Find a wench, raise fat babies, live a good long life.
6. Look at these! Silk, pure silk! I'll bet her mother spun 'em! Calamity Jane [info]rosiethehobbit
7. There even are places where English completely disappears; in America they haven't used it for years. My Fair Lady [info]sistermagpie
8. They think you dress like that because you shaped like that! The King And I [info]evenstarnikki
9. Then I shall prepare something special. Perhaps I'll make you disappear.
10. From hell's heart, I stab at thee. For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee. Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan [info]shadowfax8

Good luck. :)

HINT: One of these is from an animated character. ;)

12:33 pm: Photo Album Meme
gakked from [info]truehobbit

(I know, two in a row...I must have missed my memes) :P

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article title on the page is the name of your band.

2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4. 4.Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post it in your own journal.

This wasn't the first picture...the first was a great pic of the Golden Gate Bridge. I copied to my pictures file, then closed the window. When I tried to open the picture in paint, there was nothing there. *shrugs*

But this picture is perfect for the title, I think. ;)

01:42 pm: Wayward hobbit has returned...
I fell off the face of Lj and found myself at http://www.thehalloffire.net/forum/index.php. I'm enjoying myself there, but in doing so, I've neglected my journal here.

Another thing that has kept me away is our new house. Still unpacking and finding places for most things. Also trying to get rid of some unneeded things, which is almost as difficult as finding room for the needed...

I'll see what I can do to get myself motivated here. But for now, this update is short, if not sweet. *hugs flist*

09:58 pm:

Well, I am going to post before checking my flist...otherwise I'll end up running out of time.

Our lease is almost up once again. And to make a long story short, we found a house to buy!

In other news, I won my disability...although the judge thought I was a bit crazy. He told me to be truly happy, I should have some sort of counceling. (???!!!)  He says I am too honest, and who am I so anxious to please? They all decided it was my mother....ok, so I wanted to please my mom. She's no longer with us, so what's the issue? We got a tickle out of the whole thing. At least he awarded my disability. And we will be able to afford to do things we never could before. *big silly happy honest grin*

09:13 pm: The day to day today....
It was a lovely day today! Warm and sunny but not too hot. The humidity was low, and there was a nice breeze so I opened the windows. It felt wonderful! Of course I lost count of how many times I sneezed from allergies...but I couldn't resist, i love the fresh air!

Our cherry tomato plants are producing tastey fruit...the other tomato plants are getting that pre-ripe yellow hue, so with the sunshine that's expected for the next several days, we should soon be getting some romas and better boys. Yumm!

As for the drought that we've had since before we moved here almost two years ago? It's officially OVER!! w000h00000! We've had enough rain to fill the lakes back up and they no longer look stagnant. However, we still have water restrictions, just because there are so many people moving here, and we won't always have these lovely spring showers and thunderstorms.

Daughter update: M is still enjoying her Harley man. :D They enjoy each others company a lot, and it's not that "always in each others business" kind of relationship. They do see each other often, but M still has time to hang out with her girlfriends. On the other hand, yesterday M was off and had a hard time waiting for J to get off of work and give her a call. :P

On a more dreary note, the evening news is getting more depressing every day, with all the crime. A police officer shot. A child missing. A woman's body found. It's so sad. Then they talk about the prices at the pump. PLEASE just STOP! I'm so sick of hearing how gas prices are up another so many cents. But my biggest peeve with gas prices is that the price per barrel has gone down from last year but prices at the pump keep going up. Why, I ask??!!

*headbangs computer* ahaghgagwa jkdfaglksgkghsehsg djighuud

Well, the happy moments outweigh the irritating moments, so I'll leave it at that. I've worked up a thirst! Time for a glass of water then off to bed...

10:28 pm: Happy Mother's Day
I wanted to post some lovely poem or a special "Mother" story or anecdote, but it's already bedtime for me so I'll have to settle for a quick update.

For M-Day, my hubby gave me a couple DVD's, "The Last Stand-X Men 3" and "Click". From my son, "Night At the Museum", and my daughter gave me a book, "Chicken Soup for the Mother & Daughter Soul". I teared up at the last one, and she said she teared up when she found it, so she just had to get it. ;D

My little cherry tomatoes have been ripening, already picked half a dozen that my hubby enjoyed just popping them into his mouth. I didn't care, I personally am waiting for the roma's...those are my favorite.

Our drought is officially over (YAY) but we still have water restrictions. We need them because there are just so many people in this area and more are moving here. Our cute little town is really growing!

I tried to get hubby to call his mom for M-Day, but he refused. I understand, she considers us dead anyways. *rolls eyes* For those who don't know the reason, it's because we moved out of town. :\ But I told hubby that one day he'll just have to be the bigger man and try calling her. It aggrivates me because a couple weeks ago he was considering sending her a MDay present. Apparently he changed his mind. Oh well.

Not much else I guess...off to bed. G'night! mwah!

10:08 pm: TV Interupted...
Try to watch a program and the weather alerts keep butting in with stupid tornado warnings, sheesh! And THEN the satellite goes out, so the evening is shot...

Just kidding. Yes we've been having some nasty storms rumble through with tornadoes touching down not too far south from us. The major part of the storm is past, but there is still a lot of lightning. I think it rather exciting myself...and yes, I'm serious. And no, I'm not drunk. I just love storms! :D They do cause a lot of havoc though...lots of flooding, and of course the damage from the tornadoes which is not so fun either. :\

Thankfully we had no such interuptions yesterday. I hung out at my sister's house and we watched movies all day. Two starring Shirley Temple ("The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer" and "Honeymoon"), who just recently turned 79 (Happy Birthday Curly Top!!), and "Rumor Has It" with Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Costner, then a piece of "Must Love Dogs" until I had to leave. We also caught the end of a movie before "Rumor" called "On A Clear Day". It was about a man who was going to swim the English Channel, and I was really enjoying the fact that all the actors were Scottish. I was just thinking how lovely it would be if Billy Boyd was in the film, and lo and behold...HE WAS!! I really had to restrain myself from drooling on my sister's tv...*swooooon*...whew, it's been a long time since I did that! Felt good too, LOL! Anyways, I think I will have to buy that one and watch it from the beginning.

I think I will also have to check to see what else Billy has been up too........ ;)

09:32 pm: American Accent Meme
Gakked from [info]truehobbit because being a navy brat, I always wondered what kind of accent I had. Midland fits, especially since I lived 13 years in Atlanta and have lived in the Dallas area for about two years now... ;P

</form>
What American accent do you have?
Created by Xavier on Memegen.net

Midland. The Midland (please don't confuse with "Midwest") itself is the neutral zone between the North and South. But just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from there. Since it is considered a neutral, default, "non-regional" accent you could easily be from someplace without its own accent, like Florida, or a big city in the South like Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?

06:54 pm: I was reading my flist and came across this meme from [info]sistermagpie

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open it to page 161.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

The nearest book was sitting on the arm of the sofa where I am typing away...i just bought it from the brand spanking new Walmart just down the road....

"You've been known as Clint Downes for a good fifteen years."

Mary Higgins Clark, Two Little Girls in Blue.

In other news....yesterday I made my first crawfish etouffee...and it was delicious! I added a little too much salt, but not too much that it ruined the pot. It's really easy too, i don't know why i never tried before!

Container tomato update: All six plants are doing great....they have some yellow leaves, and I'm worried they had gotten too much rain. (note to self: drag tomatoes under the eaves before the next storm.)  But the good news is, they all have tomatoes growing!  Romas, Sweet 100 Cherries, and Better Boys. I wanted a variety, hoping I'd get at least some produce. Looks like we'll get some! w00h00!

The strawberries are producing runners, and R thinks they won't produce fruit until next year....we'll see.

M's new boyfriend is very nice. He's visited us twice and took M out several times this week, even cooked for her once!  They went out on his motorcycle last night because the weather was so nice...she had a blast! He wants her to meet his parents. So far we are all in major "like" with this guy. I hope it works out. M has had such rotton luck with boyfriends...

I hope this was sweet because it's definitely short. I've got a case of the yawns that just won't quit, and bed is calling...

07:11 pm: Crossovers

Every now and then I play a game on the computer called the Sims, where you can create characters and put them in situations like going to college or getting a job...sorta like a real life simulator. I only play it now and then because time flies while I'm on and before I know it the day is gone....and I already don't get much done. :P

So yesterday I desided to build a house (another fun aspect of the game, you can design and decorate how you like). It turned out rather medieval, so I thought I'd create a medieval style character to move in. I gave him longish hair and a bit of scruff, turn it red, and he starts to remind me of Jamie Fraser from the Diana Gabaldon series. I just couldn't resist, I created Jamie Frasier complete with kilt, created his wife Claire, and moved them into the house. They both have family aspirations, so next time I play, I'll get Jamie and Claire to woohoo so they can get their family started. We'll name our firstborn Bree.......

I really like this game......

12:37 pm: Snow in April
Yeah, right... *snort*
Then hubby calls from work to brag about the big snowlakes falling outside. Too funny!  Especially when just last week we had temps in the mid 80's. Go figure.

So many things have been happening this week, I really wish I'd write every day.  They would probably make for better posts. I don't know how some of you do it!  Comparatively speaking, my posts seem to just ramble on. Oh well, I guess it's something I know how to do. Ramble. :P

As I said, lots has been going on for me this week. I finally heard from my attorney about my disability hearing.
Thursday I drove our roommate J to the airport. Instead of driving, he decided to fly down to Louisiana. His very first flight, and he loved it. He told B (my son) he'll never drive the 7 1/2 hours again. LOL!  I'd fly too, if I had the dough. He's still young, with not too many bills and no family, so he's rolling in it. Go him. :|

Our water aerobics class ended on Wednesday, and the new session doesn't start until next Wed. I'm glad, because of all the travelling to doctors and airports this week, I needed a couple days off. Especially because I need to do some housework. The place is such a mess.
And my BeautiControl stuff came in!!!!
Final ramblings (i won't bother with a cut here)... Our container tomatoes and strawberries are growing nicely, they both have flowers! I may have to bring them in tonight because of possible frost in the morning. (the benefits of container gardening! ;) )
I also saw the most adorable brown rabbit outside my window the other day. I tried to take some pics but they came out very blurry. If she eats my tomato plants, I'll make a fricassee out of her. >:)

And I've had the worst time with my poor lips. They are so chapped! For three or four weeks now! Sometimes I wonder if I'm not over-using the lip balm, so I stop and try to let them heal on their own, but then they hurt like the dickens. I wonder if BC's lip balm will work any better....

09:54 pm: Crawfish Boil
Our local Joe's Crab Shack hosted their first crawfish boil, and it was a good time! We had all you can eat boiled crawfish with potatoes and corn, live music from the Voodoo Blues (they played some great blues!) and free samples of their 1800 Margaritas. They even had a live crawfish race for the kids!

Although it was overcast, I ended up with a bit of sunburn to go with my full tummy. :P

In other news...
Hubby mowed for the first time this season, which was mostly weeds due to the drought. But the grass is starting to green up, and is looking pretty good. I also put my little strawberry plants into their bigger pots...they will keep my containers of tomatoes that we planted last week company. I'm not a big gardener, but I'm hoping my little efforts will be fruitful this year.

The rain has been hiding in the clouds, doing a good job of not falling for the past week or so, but I hope things will change in the next day or two.  We need some good spring showers!

But all in all, I had a fun day. :)

08:42 pm: This week...

Our community pool was closed so they could drain the pool for repairs, which cancelled our water aerobics classes for the week. It came at a good time though, because I've had a chest cold that's finally going away slowly, with lots of liquids, vitamin C, throat lozenges, and OTC cough meds. I had to work two days, then the rest of the week was just chilling out here or at my sister's house watching movies and drinking herbal tea. I've peeked into my flist, but was just too tired to post any comments...I'll work on that in a bit.

Our brief winter is fleeing fast. We just had a springlike storm come through last night, and their expecting another one next week. Our high temps were around 78F. The snow was fun while it lasted!  Today it was cooler after the weather front went through, and extremely windy. We had winds between 30 and 40 miles per hour with gusts even higher. It blew the neighbor's sapling over...I was waiting for mine to go too, especially since mine died from the drought last summer, but it's still standing. Brave little tree...

With the wind came something I've never seen before and was rather wild. My first dust storm! "And there was much rejoicing. yay."  I had the windows open because of the cool breeze, but then the sky turned a weird orange/brown color, so I shut the windows, got my camera, and took

these... )

It cleared up after a couple hours, the dust blew on east. The wind even died down a bit, and the sun was impressive as it sunk behind the houses. Don't know why I didn't take a pic of it! But as I uploaded the pics from my camera, I forgot I had taken
this... )

As I mentioned earlier, I watched several movies with my sister that I hadn't seen yet. I'll only mention a few brief comments, as I am horrible at reviews.
Tristan and Isolde was very interesting tale set in the dark ages when Ireland and Britain were hard at it. I found it very well done and enjoyed the story, although it had a strong Lancelot/Gwenevere flavor.  I don't know why I didn't cry at the tearful ending. I blame it on the cold.
Anastasia
, the animated version, was really cute...and I did cry at certain points, go figure. I had forgotten what the story was about, and now I want to see the earlier version again, with Yul Brenner and Ingred Bergman. I don't know how many years it's been since I've seen that one.
The Devil Wears Prada was very funny and reminded me a lot of Ugly Betty. It's a great story about true success. I especially loved the last look we got from Meryl Streep...priceless!

I also watched The Wedding Singer with her, which I have seen.  A silly movie that also moved me to tears. All of Drew Barrymore's movies tend to make me cry...I'm a sucker for silly sweet happy endings. :D

I dug out my VHS tape of Dr. Zhivago, because I've had the urge to watch it for a couple weeks now. The problem is that the VCR is hooked up to the tv by my exercise bike, and this is not a movie I want to exercise to.  So.  I have to disconnect the VCR from that tv and hook it up to my big tv...but I haven't had the energy. I'm going to try and get my son to do it for me so I can watch it next week. The music is so amazing, and from what I remember, so is the cinimatography. It's been years since I've seen this one too!  I do have the soundtrack for it...on LP (that's a record album for those of you who have only heard stories......)  :P

09:58 pm: My hubby must have a weak immune system, he's always catching colds.  I'm usually good at avoiding them, however, this time my body is giving in. *pout*  I'm starting with this rattly cough and I'm trying to cut it off at the pass with lots of liquids, vitamin C and garlic....although at the moment I'm sipping some B&B (a brandy and benedictine blend) which is very warming. :)

Valentine's day this year did not go by unnoticed at our house. Hubby took me to Red Lobster for a lovely lunch. I had grilled shrimp and steamed vegetables which I am proud to say, because I usually go for the rich and calorie laden pasta with alfredo sauce. The shrimp and veggies were seasoned and very tasty, I'm sure I'll order it again next time. I also had two of their biscuits...I tried to stop at one, but you have to understand. Red Lobster biscuits are to die for! They are buttermilk biscuits with cheese and garlic, and they...mmmmmmmmmmm....they are just sooooo good!

Hubby also bought me a couple gifts (we got our tax refund so hubby was very generous! :D). One was Josh Groban's Awake CD. I'm listening to him sing Romeo and Juliet in Italian, and I'm just melting into the sofa. The other is a really cool looking plant called a bromeliad. It's very pretty! ...
I hope I don't kill it...

We went to my sister's house this evening for birthday brownies...her big day is tomorrow. She's still a year behind me, I don't ever think she'll catch up. ;P

Anything else? Oh yes, my sister gave me her
incumbant exercise bike (she never uses it), so I'm trying to add that routine to my daily duties. I've only used them once so far, but I'm sure it won't be too difficult to get going. They're parked in the front room where I have another tv with a VCR and a DVD player. I can pop in a movie and bike away! ;)
